About Me: Im Coeliac and what that means

About me: Im coeliac,

Right, so this is not going to be anything heavy but a brief explanation.

Not many people know but I am Coeliac. This is an illness that affects mainly the stomach and intestines. This illness is an allergy to Wheat and/or Gluten. Such as you would find in cakes, bread and pizzas.

I found out when I was 16 that I had this illness after many years going backwards and forwards to the doctors with stomach issues.
Oh the fondness of going to school wearing a size 10 trousers knowing in by bag was either a size 16 or maternity trousers ready for the afternoon. I used to literally swell up and look around 6 months pregnant at school.

After the diagnosis it appeared to be quite simple of how to stop the illness. Or so you would think. Cut out the things that contain wheat. Well there are more than you think, start with the obviously yummy foods, cakes, pizza and sandwiches. But then you get to Gravy, Vinegar and frozen chips that you wouldn't think of. You then become one of those people in the supermarket spending 30 minutes on each isle reading the back of the packets.

10 years ago being coeliac or wheat intolerant wasn't heard of. There were no free from sections in supermarkets and I had to get my food on prescription. Also because it was on prescription it was generally nasty. One good thing about more people having this illness now, or even choosing to go on a wheat free diet, is that now there are many more products on the shelves.
Yes not everything is great, and the bread is nasty but its a million miles from before.
Im guessing I'm spoilt as I had 16 years of yummy fluffy cakes and bread. Not the bread I have now which is stodgy, and has a sandy texture.

Well where am I now, I generally know the products, how to cook them and which to avoid. I do sometimes have a ‘naughty’ meal but I have to sum up in my mind if it will be worth the consequences. I have to be honest, my downfall is usually chocolate fudge cake.
I do get very bored of going out for a meal and always having a salad no dressing, or a jacket potato.

Over the next year I would like to find out more about new products that I have not used as I would love to be able to be 100% wheat and gluten free all of the time. But there are just so many products that just are not there or not up to scratch.

Anyone out there that has a great recipe or product that you have found I would love to know!

Me and Photography.

Hello again,
I thought I would share with you a little more about me and my hobby / sideline job. I have now for around 5 years been a wedding photographer.

I love my job as I appreciate how every wedding and event is different. From the couples, venues, dresses, guests. You name it, its different.
I currently take about 10 weddings a year and would love to have more. At the moment this is a sideline to my ‘proper job’.  My aim is in a few years to leave my current job and do photography full time.

Within my ‘proper job' I cover product photography and then with my company its weddings and studio shoots.

Then to make things worse, I love to get wrapped up warm and go out with my camera and take even more pictures. Such as going to our local wildlife park and snapping away. I'm not often in front of the camera.

If you are interested in taking a look at any of my images my gallery is here:

I am planning on adding more of my personal images to pinterest / instagram to give an outlet for them. Also I shall of course be taking images myself for within my product reviews.

Anyone that would like to know, I use mainly a Cannon 650D camera.

What are your passions?
I can safely say my name is Nicola, and I am a Photo-taker-aholic.

So who am I and what am I doing here?

Hello.
So who am I and what am I doing here?
Well then, I'm Nicola, I'm from Doncaster and I'm going to start writing about my experiences. I'm not sure if anyone will fancy reading them but I'm going to give it a go.
I'm from a pretty normal background, I have a normal job and like normal things.
Well whatever normal is...

I'm planning to blog and maybe video my thoughts on new experiences within my life. Therefore I don't think I'm best to put myself in a blogging bracket. I'm not going to be specifically beauty, fashion or lifestyle. But more writing about my journey and the products and opportunities that I come across on the way.

Yes I will probably do product reviews, but I am more about letting you know about me and my views on all things NEW. We will all experience lots of new things everyday and take them for granted. So I thought what the heck ill make a log of the new and exciting things that happen.

So what can you expect from following me. Good question.
I am about value for money and also I am passionate about doing the best you can with what you have. Whether that's saving a little money by doing your research before you buy, or buying items on offer, or environmentally friendly issues, such as me being an EV car driver.

I love photography and enjoy spending time in the outdoors capturing everything. Ill go on a holiday and take well over 1000 images. I also love to be part of weddings and I am a wedding photographer part time around my ‘proper’ job. One day I would like to make my photography hobby my full time job but I love it how its going right now.

I am very much a friends and family person. I appreciate that to get through life you need a little help along the way. I love to spend time with other people and just talk about the day/week/year. I also may blog about my days out and the new placed that I have been. Whether its a day out to a local wildlife park or going on holiday to see a new location and culture.

So there I am, What do you think?
Well the plan is to put something online every week. (thank goodness for scheduling) Whether that's a blog or a video. Ill also share some of my images and new finds on pinterest/ instagram if you fancy taking a look there too.

Feel free to get in touch, with me about anything.

Speak soon

Nicola
